Sweet Voyage (Calypso)
2021 15.3 HH Chestnut Thoroughbred Mare
Meet Sweet Voyage, affectionately known around the barn as Calypso! Since retiring from the racetrack, Calypso has blossomed into an incredibly affectionate mare who loves attention and happily soaks up all the scratches and love she can get. She is kind, easygoing, and gets along well with her pasture mates without needing to be the boss.
Calypso is pasture sound but is currently being managed for a previous sesamoid fracture in her left fetlock. Our veterinary team believes this injury may be compensatory due to joint issues in her hind end. To help keep her comfortable, Calypso wears glue-on shoes on her front feet and will require ongoing maintenance, including hock and stifle joint injections.
At this time, Calypso’s long-term riding potential is considered limited. Her response to joint injections will help determine what level of work, if any, she may be comfortable doing in the future, but she is not currently expected to be a reliable riding horse. Because of this, she may be best suited as a companion or potentially a light pleasure horse in a home that understands and is prepared to manage her ongoing needs.
Calypso is looking for a compassionate adopter who will appreciate her sweet, loving nature and provide the continued care she deserves. In return, she’ll offer plenty of affection and make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a kind-hearted mare to love.

This adopter has spent a good amount of time around horses—through lessons, mentorship, or hands-on experience—and feels confident handling and caring for them independently. They’re comfortable riding at all gaits (walk, trot, and canter), and can lunge or round pen a horse with ease. They also have some experience with less-seasoned or “greener” horses, especially when working with support from a trainer.
