2010 16.0 HH Dark Bay Thoroughbred Mare
“Jazzy” is a beautiful mare who has overcome significant challenges with remarkable resilience. When she first arrived at the Center, she was suffering from a painful case of uveitis that resulted in vision loss in her left eye. That eye was ultimately removed, and Jazzy has since made a full recovery.
Now back in groundwork training, Jazzy continues to make steady progress. Due to her vision loss, she can be sensitive to sudden sights, sounds, and touch, and may startle more easily. She forms strong bonds with her pasture mates and truly enjoys their companionship, but can become anxious when separated from them or when her routine changes.
Due to chronic lameness, Jazzy is available as a companion-only horse. Despite this, she is comfortable and content in the pasture, where she can relax and enjoy the company of other horses.
Jazzy would do best in a trainer-type home with a patient, experienced handler who can move at her pace and help her build confidence as she navigates the world with one eye. For someone willing to invest the time, she will be a deeply rewarding and loyal companion.
