Risen Sun
2022 16.1 HH Chestnut Thoroughbred Gelding
Risen Sun is a sweet, curious young Thoroughbred with a true “puppy dog” personality. A new arrival to the Kentucky Equine Adoption Center, he’s already showing just how enjoyable he is to be around—affectionate, inquisitive, and eager to connect with people.
Risen Sun has a previous fracture in his right front knee. He is currently sound and has been veterinarian-approved for low-impact, light riding, with trail riding being the ideal goal for his future. He is in the early stages of his restart, focusing on gaining weight and beginning groundwork, and he’s handling the transition beautifully.
He stalls well, enjoys his daily routine, and will soon be introduced to new herd mates. As his conditioning and training progress, we’ll continue to learn more about his strengths, but his temperament suggests he’ll make a lovely partner for someone seeking a relaxed, low-key riding companion. If his restart under saddle continues to go well, Risen Sun may also be eligible for the 2026 Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) in disciplines such as Ranch Horse or Competitive Trail.
Risen Sun is looking for a patient, thoughtful home that will enjoy the journey with him and appreciate his kind nature and bright outlook.
Adoption Fee: $1,000
