Registered as Jazz N Glory but affectionately known as Red, this beautiful purebred mare has a sweet, gentle nature and a calm presence that makes her a pleasure to be around. Quiet, kind, and easy to handle, Red enjoys attention from her people and forms strong bonds with those she trusts.
 
Red is available as a non-riding companion due to a diagnosis of grade 3 neurological symptoms and Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis (DSLD). She will need a home with an adopter experienced in managing these conditions and committed to providing the care and environment she needs to stay comfortable. Because of her easygoing personality, Red would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a horse to enjoy outside of riding.
 
Red is very food-motivated and easy to care for. Because she spent much of her life on rocky terrain with limited access to grass, she has developed a sensitivity to pasture and will do best in a dry-lot style turnout. She is currently maintained on ½ scoop of Hallway Feeds Encompass™ daily, does not wear shoes, and has proven to be an easy keeper on hay.
 
Red arrived at the Center with her longtime companion, Carl. While Red is comfortable being separated from him, Carl becomes anxious when they are apart, so we would love to see them remain together if the right home is available. Red would thrive in a calm home where she can enjoy companionship, attention, and excellent care.

This adopter feels confident handling horses on the ground and can groom, tack up, and take care of basic needs on their own. They’re comfortable riding a gentle, well-trained horse at a walk, trot, and canter without supervision. They may also have some experience with groundwork, like lunging or working in the round pen.
