Pitch Dark (Preacher)
2019 16.1 HH Dark Bay Thoroughbred Gelding
"Preacher" is an easygoing gentleman with a sweet, laid-back personality. He enjoys companionship and a quiet routine, making him a lovely horse to have around. Preacher is seeking a non-riding companion home where he can enjoy a comfortable life.
Preacher has several physical challenges that require thoughtful management, including a bone chip and bone spur in his left front fetlock, a cyst in his left front P1 bone, and some effusion in his left stifle. These conditions can cause periods of significant unsoundness, so he needs a home prepared to prioritize his comfort and provide appropriate ongoing care.
As a hard keeper, Preacher requires a carefully managed diet to maintain his weight. He currently receives 1.5 scoops of Hallway Feeds Quantify® twice daily, regular alfalfa, and one Equioxx tablet. He is also maintained on a dry lot because sugars in grass can increase inflammation in his feet and contribute to discomfort. He recently received a left front fetlock injection to support his comfort.
Preacher would thrive with a compassionate adopter who understands his needs and can provide the attentive care he deserves. In return, this gentle fellow offers the simple joy of his company and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in his life.

Adoption Home Level
Beginner - Novice - Intermediate - Advanced
This adopter has spent a good amount of time around horses—through lessons, mentorship, or hands-on experience—and feels confident handling and caring for them independently. They’re comfortable riding at all gaits (walk, trot, and canter), and can lunge or round pen a horse with ease. They also have some experience with less-seasoned or “greener” horses, especially when working with support from a trainer.
