"Preacher" is a calm and easygoing gentleman who enjoys companionship and takes life in stride. With his sweet nature and laid-back personality, he is a pleasure to have around and appreciates a quiet routine filled with good care and attention.
Preacher does have several physical challenges that will require thoughtful management. He has a bone chip and bone spur in his left front fetlock, along with a cyst in his left front P1 bone and some effusion in his left stifle. These combined issues can cause periods of significant unsoundness, and he will need a home that understands his comfort needs and is committed to providing appropriate care.
Preacher is also a hard keeper and requires a carefully managed diet to help maintain his weight. He is currently maintained on 1.5 scoops of Hallway Feeds Quantify® twice daily, regular alfalfa, and one Equioxx tablet. Because sugars in grass can increase inflammation in his feet and contribute to discomfort, he is currently maintained on a dry lot while his care team continues to fine-tune his management plan.
Recently, Preacher received a left front fetlock injection to support his comfort. Despite his challenges, he remains a kind and gentle horse who enjoys the simple things in life—a peaceful environment, companionship, and people who appreciate him for the special horse he is.
At this time, we are not accepting adoption applications for Preacher while we continue to evaluate the best long-term care plan for him.

This adopter has spent a good amount of time around horses—through lessons, mentorship, or hands-on experience—and feels confident handling and caring for them independently. They’re comfortable riding at all gaits (walk, trot, and canter), and can lunge or round pen a horse with ease. They also have some experience with less-seasoned or “greener” horses, especially when working with support from a trainer.
