Forever Candy
2008 15.2 HH Chestnut Thoroughbred Mare
“Candy” is a mare who has endured a very difficult few years. She arrived at our facility in July 2025 from a neglect case and was immediately placed on our refeeding program, which is still ongoing. Despite her rough start, Candy has made significant strides in her recovery and continues to improve daily.
Candy is strongly bonded to the mare she arrived with, Lightning Fire, and currently experiences some separation anxiety when they are apart. We expect this to ease as both mares fully recover, complete their refeeding program, and are gradually introduced to one of our mare herds, where Candy can form additional relationships. Within herd dynamics, Candy tends to rank higher on the social hierarchy and carries herself with quiet confidence. She is also excellent for the farrier.
Due to significant damage to her right front fetlock—believed to be the result of an untreated joint infection before her arrival—Candy will not be suitable as a riding horse. While she is currently pasture sound, she will be seeking a quiet retirement home once her recovery is complete, where she can enjoy a comfortable and well-deserved retirement.
Adoption Fee: $500
