Emmy Lu Slew

$1,000.00Price

2009 16.1HH Bay Thoroughbred Mare

”Emmy” is a stunning and athletic off-the-track Thoroughbred (OTTB) with a royal pedigree. As the granddaughter of 1977 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew, she carries both beauty and legacy. Emmy is a sweet, sensitive mare who forms strong bonds with her pasture mates and becomes very in-your-pocket once she learns to trust you.

Under saddle, Emmy has been ridden at the walk and trot and is currently building confidence in her trot work in the arena. She’s intelligent, eager to learn, and responds best to thoughtful, consistent handling. Emmy thrives with a consistent but diverse training schedule that incorporates fun in addition to her riding work, such as liberty, and has shown natural ability in free-jumping, making her a prospect for jumping disciplines with continued training.

She does best with regular chiropractic care, wears front shoes, and is otherwise an easy keeper in the pasture. While she can be a bit hard to catch, Emmy's loyalty grows with trust and time. Because she’s still green, Emmy is seeking a home with an experienced trainer who can help bring out her full potential.

If you’re looking for a talented and responsive partner, Emmy could be the perfect match for you!

Adoption Home Level: Intermediate

This adopter has spent a good amount of time around horses—through lessons, mentorship, or hands-on experience—and feels confident handling and caring for them independently. They’re comfortable riding at all gaits (walk, trot, and canter), and can lunge or round pen a horse with ease. They also have some experience with less-seasoned or “greener” horses, especially when working with support from a trainer.
