“Dixie” is a smart, athletic off-the-track Thoroughbred (OTTB) with a heart full of potential. Sensitive to a rider’s energy and seat, she responds best to calm, quiet handling and truly shines with consistency. Dixie is an eager-to-please mare who is currently building topline muscle, learning to relax through her body, and developing correct movement.
 
A quick learner with a strong desire to partner with her person, Dixie is an excellent match for an experienced rider, particularly one interested in dressage or other low-impact disciplines. She thrives in a steady training routine and enjoys working in true partnership with her rider.
 
Dixie is a moderate keeper and is fed 1 pound of M-30 and 4 pounds of Top Breeder daily. She requires monthly chiropractic care to stay comfortable under saddle and prefers a bitless English bridle. She currently wears front nail-on shoes.

Adoption Home Level: Intermediate
 
This adopter has spent a good amount of time around horses—through lessons, mentorship, or hands-on experience—and feels confident handling and caring for them independently. They’re comfortable riding at all gaits (walk, trot, and canter), and can lunge or round pen a horse with ease. They also have some experience with less-seasoned or “greener” horses, especially when working with support from a trainer.
