Meet Carl, registered as Coined Spirit—a handsome and sometimes cheeky gelding who has quickly captured our hearts.
 
Carl is available as a non-riding companion due to a diagnosis of grade 2 neurological symptoms and DSLD (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis). He will need a home with someone knowledgeable in managing these conditions. While he can be a bit pushy at times, Carl is a sweet-natured gelding with a lot of heart.
 
Because he spent most of his life on rocky terrain with very little grass, he has developed a sensitivity to pasture and will need a dry-lot type field. He is also very bonded to Red, his companion of the last 12 years, and we would love to see them placed together. 
 
Carl is an easy keeper on hay and is currently maintained on 1 pound of McCauley's M30.

Adoption Home Level: Intermediate
 
This adopter has spent a good amount of time around horses—through lessons, mentorship, or hands-on experience—and feels confident handling and caring for them independently. They’re comfortable riding at all gaits (walk, trot, and canter), and can lunge or round pen a horse with ease. They also have some experience with less-seasoned or “greener” horses, especially when working with support from a trainer.
