Meet Carl, registered as Coined Spirit — a handsome and sometimes cheeky gelding who has quickly captured our hearts.
 
Carl is available as a non-riding companion due to grade 2 neurological symptoms and DSLD (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis). He will need a home with someone knowledgeable about managing these conditions to help ensure he remains comfortable and thriving. Despite these limitations, Carl is a sweet-natured gelding with plenty of personality.
 
Carl can be a bit pushy at times and will benefit from a patient, confident handler who understands groundwork and desensitization. He is currently working on building confidence outside of his field and continues to make progress with calm, consistent handling.
 
Because he spent much of his life on rocky terrain with very little grass, Carl has developed a sensitivity to pasture and does best in a dry-lot style turnout. He is an easy keeper on hay, currently maintained on ½ scoop of Hallway Feeds Encompass™, and goes comfortably without shoes.
 
Carl is also deeply bonded to Red, his companion of the last 12 years, and we would love to see them placed together in their next home. Carl will make a rewarding companion for someone willing to give him the patience and care he deserves.

Adoption Home Level: Intermediate
 
This adopter has spent a good amount of time around horses—through lessons, mentorship, or hands-on experience—and feels confident handling and caring for them independently. They’re comfortable riding at all gaits (walk, trot, and canter), and can lunge or round pen a horse with ease. They also have some experience with less-seasoned or “greener” horses, especially when working with support from a trainer.
