Coined Spirit (Carl)

Meet Carl, registered as Coined Spirit, a sweet and spirited gelding with a personality all his own. He can be a little cheeky and pushy at times, but with a patient and confident handler, his endearing personality shines through.
 
Carl is available as a non-riding companion due to grade 2 neurological symptoms and DSLD, or Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis. He will need a knowledgeable home that understands how to manage these conditions and can continue to prioritize his comfort and quality of life. Carl is currently working on building his confidence outside of his field and benefits from calm, consistent groundwork and desensitization.
 
Having spent much of his life on rocky terrain with very little grass, Carl is sensitive to pasture and does best with dry lot style turnout. He is an easy keeper on hay and is currently maintained on ½ scoop of Hallway Feeds Encompass™. He is also comfortable going barefoot and requires only routine hoof care.
 
Carl has a special bond with Red, a Tennessee Walking Horse mare who has been his constant companion for the last 12 years. These two longtime friends are deeply attached, and we would love to see them placed together so they can continue enjoying each other’s company in their next chapter. For someone prepared to meet Carl’s management needs and offer patient, knowledgeable handling, he will be a sweet and rewarding companion.

This adopter feels confident handling horses on the ground and can groom, tack up, and take care of basic needs on their own. They’re comfortable riding a gentle, well-trained horse at a walk, trot, and canter without supervision. They may also have some experience with groundwork, like lunging or working in the round pen.
